It all began with Global Master Chef and owner of Culinary Solutions International (CSI),  Karl Guggenmos, serving at the time as University Dean of Johnson & Wales University. He cherished leading students and faculty on eye-opening trips worldwide, infusing them with knowledge of diverse cultures and cuisines. The seeds for The Golden Plate were sown during these expeditions.

Inspired by a National Geographic ad on private jet experiences, Karl envisioned a similar concept for exclusive culinary tours. Fast forward 10+ years, he shared this vision with Michelle Tulloch, Johnson & Wales MBA graduate and managing partner of CSI, she enthusiastically embraced the idea, partnering to turn the dream into a reality. In 2024, a fortuitous encounter with a repeat Jamaican guest, who organized international women’s retreats, propelled the project forward. Now that the world is open and people have a deeper sense of value and appreciation for travel and exploring different cultures, they decided to seize the opportunity and make their dream come true.

The Golden Plate journey embarked, starting at Hotel Maximilian in Augsburg, Germany, where Karl initiated his culinary apprenticeship 60 years ago. With every trip and every uncovered culinary destination, the team aims to offer immersive, high-end, all-inclusive culinary, cultural, and historical experiences. Karl and Michelle will travel alongside you, sharing their remarkable insights and experiences.
